Tutorial: Peppermint Lip Balm

I love Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. What I don’t love is paying several dollars for each tube! I am always on the lookout for ways to “make your own” version of commercial products. It is usually cheaper, healthier, and brings such satisfaction.

In today’s tutorial, I will teach you how to make your own Peppermint Lip Balm. The peppermint and rosemary essential oils give the lip balm it’s refreshing, tingly feel, while the sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and cocoa butter keep your lips moist and soft. You are going to love this lip balm!

What a great post! Would you mind sharing it on Wildcrafting Wednesday? I’m sure my readers would love it! :)

Wouldn’t the coconut oil in the lip balm make it unstable in warm weather? I wouldn’t want a mess in a warm bathroom, or hot purse!

      Hi Kim,
I haven’t had any problems with it melting, except for one I left in the van. I even made this in Spain where it was so warm in the house that the coconut oil stayed in a liquid form. Maybe mixing it with the other oils helps with this, not sure. Or possibly the beeswax?

I would really love to try the lip balm but was wondering where you purchase the tubes.

I usually get them from Mountain Rose Herbs or Brambleberry.com. They are cheaper in bulk so maybe you could find a friend to go in with you.
